Department of Health & Human Services & CDC Pandemic Checklist for Childcare Providers
Published Date: 03/11/20
As of March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic.
The novel coronavirus is a rapidly spreading respiratory illness first discovered in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The first case on U.S. soil was confirmed on January 30, 2020 and has since spread to 39 states with over 1,000 cases reported.
While children are presenting mild, cold-like symptoms and are at extremely low-risk for serious complications or death, they can easily infect others with COVID-19, having never known they were infected.
Childcare providers all know how easily germs travel among children, and need to be on the front lines of helping to contain the novel coronavirus.
We’ve provided information on how to mitigate business impacts from the virus. The following checklist from the Department of Health & Human Services and the CDC provides a step-by-step plan on addressing viral pandemics and gives guidance on how daycare and preschool providers can help curtail the spread.
