About the Program: 
Our goal is to instill in each child the desire and enthusiasm for a life-long interest in learning and the arts. In addition to a challenging academic curriculum that focuses on laying a solid foundation for advanced study, students are introduced to various activities that will help them develop their skills in areas such as dance, art, swim, sports, and karate. Smith Academy provides students with a classical education in an academically rigorous and engaging environment designed to promote strong citizenship and life-long learning. All students are viewed as gifted as we seek to challenge them to the best of their individual abilities. The faculty and staff are dedicated to bringing each child up to, and when possible, beyond grade level and Smith Academy is committed to providing an enrichment program designed to accommodate both remediation and gifted and talented needs. In addition to a solid core curriculum in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies, we also place emphasis on character development, language instruction, computer skills, and physical education. Children also receive weekly instruction in Dance, Karate, and Art. The Pre-School and Elementary School curriculum is updated and reviewed annually to ensure it meets the highest national standards. Our preschool programs are designed to offer young children an opportunity to play, explore, and engage in multi-faceted activities. Professionally trained teachers facilitate children’s growth through dynamic educational experiences. We provide a warm and caring atmosphere in which children develop and thrive intellectually, socially and emotionally and where families feel welcome. Children explore language arts, science, math concepts, music and the arts. We also offer an introduction to computers and provide outstanding resources for gross motor activity and outdoor play. In addition, to academic instruction and free playtime, all children receive weekly class instruction in academics, swimming, gym, dance (ballet and tap), arts and crafts, computer, and karate throughout the year. We also have on site field trips for preschool which includes fire truck visit, reptiles, and farm animals. At Smith Academy, we celebrate diversity and offer a sincere dedication to following parent wishes and to treating each child with equal respect, care and concern. We are not, however, currently set up to serve children with special needs.
