About the Program:
At Oak Hill United Methodist Preschool our philosophy is to provide a loving, happy, and rewarding preschool for your child. It is our goal to provide developmentally appropriate activities to enhance each child’s physical, mental, social, emotional, and moral growth.
Oak Hill UMC Preschool provides a Christian environment of belonging, emphasizing self-worth. We provide opportunities for developing self-expression, communication, problem solving, and participation in group experiences.
All activities are designed to help your child develop self-confidence through creating, manipulating and exploring.
Oak Hill UMC Preschool is a program for the whole child. Our responsibility is to provide a well-organized program to meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of the children; a loving Christian atmosphere; loving encouragement and guidance of children toward independence, responsibility, and social consciousness; and a positive approach to learning.
Learning should be messy, fun, and full of exploration and discovery! We believe children learn best through purposeful play in a loving, Christian, child-centered environment. Comprehensive, developmentally appropriate goals for each age-level group Drive our decisions about how to structure our classrooms and daily activities, and they align through each age-level group, building on each year’s goals and experiences.
Play-based, developmentally appropriate, integrated assessment helps guide our decisions in how best to guide each child to reaching his/her maximum potential. Teachers plan lessons and activities with the whole child in mind, structuring each day to grow children’s gross and fine motor skills, social/emotional skills, language and literacy, and to provide a strong foundation in science, math, and art.
Chapel lessons and themes integrate throughout the curriculum. We believe parents are their child’s first and best teachers, and we believe that children benefit from strong partnerships between home and school. Our staff regularly receives professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education.
