About the Program:
Our Primary Division (Preschool) establishes the foundation of the schoolÍs program by introducing and supporting values that center on respect for the natural pace of development, for student-centered learning, for the cultivation of curiosity, and for burgeoning independence. These tenets begin in the Primary Division and thread through the elementary and middle school years as students advance through the grade levels.
The age for children in Primary (Preschool) ranges from 2 years 9 months to 5 years, in three multi-age classrooms of 18-20 children each. Students are carefully placed in one of two groups to provide a balance of gender and ages. Primary teachers are experienced and expert observers, trained to determine each studentÍs stage of development, evaluate which tasks have been mastered, and determine which challenges should come next. The curriculum extends over several years, and advances naturally as students continue through the preschool program.
