About the Program:
t FTBM preschool, each child is embraced as a unique individual, cared for and supported with the utmost respect and sensitivity. With a student: teacher ratio of 4.5:1, the children at FTBM are surrounded by wonderful, observant teachers who listen to and appreciate them.
Our school is play-based, and most of our day is spent outdoors. Shaded by fruit trees, the children freely choose where they play. Each area is designed to foster creativity, imagination and problem solving. The children move at their own pace, from painting, to building in the sand pit, to jumping in the pillow room. All of their play is valued and acknowledged.
Our goals at Free to Be Me are for children to leave us with a true sense of themselves, high self-esteem, conflict resolution skills, and most importantly, strong communication skills—providing them with the tools they will need in kindergarten and beyond.
At Free to Be Me, community is an integral part of our philosophy. Parents are always welcome at the preschool. Every month our families get together for a picnic at the beach, a pot luck dinner, a well deserved mom or dad's night out, and our annual camping trip. Parenting classes are offered every other month, to provide families with the extra support and skills necessary to raise a healthy, happy preschooler. Many of our alumni families foster the friendships they established at Free to Be Me for many years to come.
At Free To Be Me we strive to show through example that all people and creatures are valuable.
Our goal is to foster in the children an appreciation and respect for nature in their discovery of the
world around them. Our philosophy is based on trusting the child’s innate ability to learn and to develop a true sense of self by offering age appropriate assistance in their development. Children learn to play cooperatively not competitively, and are encouraged to express their emotions while learning not to hurt others.
We focus on the non-judgmental message that all feelings are part of human nature and that the child’s world view is understood and accepted, yet limits are set with an emphasis on helping children understand the effects of their decisions and actions on others and themselves. We help the children become active participants in resolving their own conflicts. We encourage each child’s creativity with a mix of planned and spontaneous activities. Our intent is to spark their individual interests and talents.
With parent education and participation we strive to build a strong community while fostering a supportive bridge between home and school.
