About the Program:
In 2002 City School was founded by a group of families who shared a vision for a school that would be: “economically diverse, self-consciously Biblical, and recognize that different children need different things but all need to be challenged.” Accordingly, everybody pays something, but tuition is on a sliding scale.
This has created a unique Christian school community that reflects God’s Kingdom in the City of Austin. The name City School was inspired by Augustine’s City of God, which advocates building the Kingdom of God while living in the City of Man. City School always has been meant to honor God and bless Man. Our statement of faith is The Nicene Creed.
City School embraces Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education, the aim of which is to train and educate the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. Our approach begins from a foundation of truth – that all children are created in the image of God and therefore are eager to learn about Him and His creation. We aim to create a beautiful and orderly environment and develop character through habit-building. Additionally, we challenge our students with a rich, living curriculum that leads them outward toward the world. Each of these principles is distinct but overlaps with the others, and exercised in unison they are mutually reinforcing.
