About the Program:
The Child Development Center was formed in 1989 by Robin Atwood, Cheryl Cook, Jody Cohen, Carol Dochen, Barbara Gibson, Sherri Greenberg, Amy Greenspan and Cathy Schechter. With the support of the Sisterhood and its president Barbara Tocker, Congregation Beth Israel was able to create a nurturing place for children.
The Beth Israel Child Development Center (CDC) provides a safe, loving, and nurturing environment through a play based program. Children are encouraged to follow their interests and teachers facilitate their classrooms through those interests. The CDC is also proud to have an immersive Jewish culture that includes weekly Shabbat with clergy, learning Hebrew and understanding Jewish values and holidays. Additionally, the CDC provides specials to all students during the school day. These include nature and science, art, and Sportball.
Overall, the CDC strives to provide an environment of constantly improving learning and support for children and families.
